Meet Dr. Altaf, a dedicated neonatologist passionate about caring for our tiniest heroes—the premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU. With over 25 years of expertise and experience, he skillfully navigates the complexities of conditions such as prematurity, respiratory failure, congenital anomalies, pulmonary hypertension, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, seizures, congenital heart disease, and sepsis.
Dr. Altaf excels in the resuscitation and stabilization of infants at birth and embraces the essential role of family involvement in care. He believes in listening to each family’s needs, questions, and concerns, ensuring they are active participants in every step of their newborn's journey. He recognizes that cultural values and family dynamics are integral to his approach, fostering a compassionate atmosphere in the NICU.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Altaf serves as the Chair of the Sanford Institutional Review Board and is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Services. He holds prestigious board certifications in both Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
When he’s not saving lives in the NICU, Dr. Altaf pursues his passions: traveling the globe, volunteering, reading, swimming, and nurturing his garden. His zest for life is as vibrant as the care he provides!
