Dr. Sean Woods is a board-certified neonatologist who brings a collaborative, family-centered approach to care in the NICU. He was drawn to neonatology through his early experiences working closely with families during their most vulnerable moments, and he remains deeply committed to involving parents in medical decision-making. Dr. Woods believes that clear communication helps families understand what’s happening with their baby, navigate challenges, and celebrate milestones. He speaks conversational Spanish and enjoys connecting with families in their preferred language, while always using a medical interpreter for detailed conversations.
With a background in basic science and clinical research, Dr. Woods emphasizes evidence- based medicine and staying current on the best available treatments. His early research focused on novel stroke therapies, and during residency and fellowship, he contributed to studies on nutrition for infants with complex intestinal conditions. An enthusiastic educator, Dr. Woods leads the Solara Neonatal education program, providing interdisciplinary teaching for nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and families.
During fellowship, he participated in a global health project in Ethiopia, working with biomedical engineering students to develop a low-cost, reusable warming device for newborns. Dr. Woods remains dedicated to advancing neonatal care while helping families feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout their NICU journey.
In his free time, Dr. Woods enjoys playing piano, playing chess, traveling, and visiting family.
